Perch answers an ad to watch over Susan while she sleeps and arrives dressed as an owl. From there, the evening becomes ever more bizarre. As Perch stands guard over the slumbering Susan, his nighttime imagination launches into flight. Long-suppressed memories unleash and run wild, revealing a startling history with his sleeping subject. When an old betrayal is laid bare, is it revenge or redemption that must be sought?
The play digs into the dark recesses of a troubled soul. Did a first date with Susan, many years before, go spectacularly wrong, or was something altogether more clandestine going on at Lookout Point, that notorious spot where men are rumoured to lurk? Perch confronts his past and tries to unravel a mystery of his own making.
Perch throws a spotlight on the lies some gay men construct to hide their true nature. Instead of a fortress offering protection, they find themselves alone, trapped in a prison. But as Perch discovers, it is never too late to break free, and lay claim to your true self.
Perch is a one man tour de force, mixing movement with theatre and dreams with reality. Perch is psychologically thrilling, darkly humorous, and poignant.
