What do a sex worker, a nun and a taxi driver have in common? They all drink coffee at the Piccolo Bar. This humble cafe has attracted celebrities and locals alike. These characters (and more) are paid homage in return season of "Piccolo Tales" playing every Tuesday and Thursday from February.
Loved by all for his strong opinions (and strong language) Vittorio (the 81 year old cafe proprietor) is a Kings Cross institution and has witnessed it change from behind his coffee machine. Not for the claustrophobic, this production (from the creative team behind the smash-hit "Mum's In: Stories from Razorhurst") is a roller coaster ride through 5 decades of Kings Cross including Les Girls, Vietnam, Heroin, Rave to Pram Mafia.
This intimate experience is strictly for ten people (inside the Piccolo with an extra seats on the street) and is an entertaining and at times confronting piece about a changing urban landscape and the many piccolo tales that helped create it.
