Evolving from the enthusiasm of the Women’s Liberation Movement in the early 1970s, Amazon Acres are Women’s Lands on the Mid-North Coast of NSW, Australia.
Many women, mainly from Melbourne and Sydney political and consciousness raising groups and music and theatre scenes, contributed to their establishment.
Thousands of women, mostly lesbians, from around the world have visited or supported us over the 43 years since these Lands began.
This collection of stories come from some of those women. Some contributors were part of the early days and one has only just arrived. All have been profoundly touched by the spirit of the land, the wildlife and the community that has built up around the Mountain and her sister Lands, collectively known as Amazon Acres.
