Fundraising Forum
New Mardi Gras (NMG) has today announced it will hold a special Membership and Community Forum to discuss the future of the organisation’s fundraising events after Sleaze Ball 2010, at 10:30am Saturday 23rd October at Heffron Hall. The consultation will be concerned with reviewing the effectiveness of Sleaze, and to explain and discuss the future of NMG’s fundraising strategies after Sleaze Ball 2010.
The new layout of Sleaze Ball this year is an exciting opportunity to revamp the event while providing a more financially accessible event to our communities. The NMG Board now invite its members and community, to discuss the future of Sleaze, the shifting needs and tastes of the community and membership and the challenges that presents for NMG’s future fundraising strategies.
“Sleaze Ball is one of our proudest achievements as an organization, and has contributed so much over the last 32 years,” said Steph Sands, Co-Chair of New Mardi Gras. “We are committed to producing relevant and exciting events for our community, and so we feel it is time to explore new ideas.”
“This year could be the last Sleaze Ball as we consult our community and investigate fresh and creative ideas,” added Pete Urmson, Co-Chair of NMG.
This year has seen a re-working of Sleaze Ball with an emphasis on youth and women and reduced ticket prices, while retaining the dark and edgy atmosphere that Sleaze is famous for. The event is set to be the biggest of the October long weekend, with thousands of tickets sold and first release already exhausted.
“We’re thrilled about the way Sleaze 2010 is shaping up,” said Pete. “This is one of our longest-running events and always the highlight of the spring parties. We’ve returned it to a truly multi-venue event, with something for everyone this year. Stay tuned, because we have more surprises to be announced in the coming days, and a few things you’ll never expect on the night!”
The Forum continues NMG’s work in seeking the community’s involvement around decisions made by the organization.
“The new Board is committed to a renewed level of community engagement, and hopes to see a range of opinions shared in this consultation,” Steph said
