The National Art School is proud to be an exhibition partner of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in 2018.

The signature event for the 40th anniversary celebrations, the Museum of Love & Protest looks back across four amazing decades and presents an immersive exhibition of original costumes, photographs and rarely-seen film and video footage, iconic posters, storytelling, music and artefacts.

In conjunction with the exhibition the National Art School have created a range of workshops where you can come together as a family to learn new skills and techniques. Enjoy experimental drawing and ceramics for Rainbow Families of all ages!

We have these amazing workshops on offer:

Workshop A: Ceramic treasures with Elizabeth Hogan
Session 1: 10am–12.30 pm
$20 per parent, $10 per child.
This workshop will allow you to experiment with ceramic hand building techniques to develop your own projects inspired by the Museum of Love and Protest.  Discover how to join clay pieces, use slab or coil methods, and make design decisions about size and placement. Embellish your collection of objects with different marks, stamps and jewels, and decorate your pieces with a range of underglaze colours.
This workshop is for families with children aged 6 and over. All materials are included.

Workshop B: Doodling with a difference with Todd Fuller
Session 2: 1.30–4 pm
$20 per parent, $10 per child.
Join National Art School Alumni Todd Fuller for an experimental drawing workshop. Try new techniques for mark-making using a variety of materials while learning about observation. Whether you are a daily drawer or a first timer, this workshop will have something for you.
This workshop is for families with children aged 6 and over. All materials are included.
