Mardi Gras invites LGBTQI community photographers to apply for 2017 Parade route

The 39th annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade is happening on Saturday, 4th March 2017 with approximately 12,000 participants and more than 250,000 spectators cheering from the sidelines!

Every year, the Parade gets an enormous amount of local, national and international attention, and we are approached by hundreds of photographers and videographers keen to gather footage there.

Under our Parade’s logistical and safety standards, we can only invite a very small number of official Mardi Gras photographers onto our Parade route. This year we would like to invite photographers with a special and longstanding relationship chronicling our LGBTI communities.

Specifically, we’re seeking applicants for 2-3 paid positions on Mardi Gras’ team of professional photographers to work on the Parade route and at other Mardi Gras festival events. We’re also inviting 2-3 community photographers who wish to chronicle our Parade as part of their ongoing gathering and archiving footage of our communities.

To ensure a fair outcome is reached, all applications will be assessed by a panel comprising of prominent community members including a representative of the Mardi Gras 78ers and representatives from the Board and staff.

Applications end Wednesday 15 February 2017 at 5pm.
