Bondi Beach might be world famous for bronzed bodies, biceps and backpackers. But fierce, competing drag kings and queens?
The feathers flew and the make up dripped when we presented the Mardi Gras Drag Races, hosted by Vanessa Wagner. An amateur gymkhana like no other, this event finally answered the question – who is the fairer (and fairest) sex?
The Drag Races tested each athlete to the very edge with challenges designed to measure their endurance, physical prowess and creativity. The roster of Olympic style events included: Competitive Feminine Posing; Beached Volleyball; Three Heeled/Tripod Racing; Handbag Discus and the Dainty Dune Dash. Between the heels, fake beards and soft Bondi sand, hilarity and utter spectacle reigned supreme.
No experience in cross dressing was required (and that's exactly what we saw)!
