Kylie is coming to Mardi Gras!

THE RUMOURS ARE TRUE… KYLIE WILL PERFORM AT MARDI GRAS PARTY
The word is out: Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is thrilled to confirm that Kylie will be performing at the 2012 Mardi Gras Party - Mardigrasland!
We, along with our strategic partner Destination NSW, could not be more excited to welcome Kylie back to Mardi Gras Party, as she celebrates her 25th anniversary as a music icon with K25 — 25 years of Kylie. We are already thrilled to have her watch the Parade with us, so having her perform live at Mardigrasland is a truly unique gift to our community and to Sydney at large.
This adds to already stellar Party line-up, with singer-songwriter
Sam Sparro being another exciting addition. Sparro was recently confirmed to do a special performance at the Party and joins
RuPaul,
Sneaky Sound System,
Chicane and a variety of local and international acts and DJs.
“Being part of Mardi Gras this year is so important to me because I know that so many of my fans make up the amazing community it represents,” said Kylie.
“Performing at the Party is my way of saying thanks for 25 amazing years together. It’s been a really beautiful relationship that has always been filled with overwhelming support and a lot of love.”
Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras alongside its strategic partner Destination NSW, wanted to mark the acclaimed artist’s career milestone, K25, with a personal invitation to be part of the event, widely recognised as the world’s best celebration of LGBTQI pride and diversity and one that draws significant economic benefits to Sydney and NSW at large. Now that she has confirmed that she will perform at Mardigrasland, we are expecting even more people to travel to Sydney for the Parade weekend.

Minogue is also said to be ‘beyond excited’ to take in the electrifying ambience of the parade and watch Sydney Mardi Gras honorary Kylie float, K25, make its way through the parade.
Michael Rolik, CEO, had said in an earlier statement: “In strategic partnership with Destination NSW we have been investing in the quality of the Parade. This year promises to deliver a wonderful Parade and Kylie’s attendance will be the cherry on the cake.”
“Our spectacular K25 float pays tribute to two and a half decades of Kylie’s music and features over 200 dancers,” said Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras CEO Michael Rolik.
While over the years Kylie has expressed to us that she has indeed wanted to do another Mardi Gras, the timing for her has not always been right. But as she prepares to celebrate her 25th anniversary as a music icon with
K25 — 25 years of Kylie — the timing could not be better for her to throw herself into the magic of Sydney Mardi Gras, the Parade and beyond by sharing her career milestone with a community that has shown her plenty of love over the years.
“I’m coming home for Mardi Gras and I simply can’t wait to be there for it,” Kylie told us this week. “Your support over the years has been phenomenal and being there for Mardi Gras is going to be a beautiful way to celebrate 25 years of this relationship.”
Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras share the excitement and pride with our strategic partners Destination NSW.
Kylie’s visit is not just wonderful news for our LGBTQI community and Sydney at large, but also for her multitude of fans around the world. As such, this becomes of great economic value to our tourism industry and a feather in our cap as a premier international destination that knows how to treat visitors to an unforgettable time — in this case with Kylie by our side.
As many of you will remember Kylie has performed at Mardi Gras in 1994 and again in 1998, dazzling us with her immeasurable talent and leaving us longing to see her share another Mardi Gras with us.
That time has finally arrived Sydney!
She has also shared our organisation and community’s fight for equality and portrayed her commitment to that plight in her
personal video as part of our
Say Something campaign last year, where she told us “Mardi Gras is the place to ‘say something’ as there should be no homophobia or discrimination anywhere in the world.”
While we were busy preparing to share Sydney’s best kept secret with the rest of the world in January, Kylie sent us an
“I can’t wait to see you” video and personally asked us to share it with you all. It’s a world exclusive and sent from Kylie to you with love, and you can see it right
here.
