Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is a not-for-profit arts organisation whose vision is to be a global leader in the promotion of diversity, inclusion, equity and social justice through culture, creativity and partnerships.

The Board of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified candidates for the volunteer role of Board Associate.

Board Associates play an important role in aiding the Board and the organisation in achieving that vision by contributing their specialist knowledge and skills to elevate the work of the Board and its Committees. Board Associates attend all board meetings (once per month) and are also expected to sit on at least one committee.

The Board of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is specifically seeking applicants from individuals with expertise in risk and work health and safety (WHS). Applicants with experience in not-for-profit governance and the events sector who have managed risk and WHS with large volumes of people are preferred but not essential.

Expressions of Interest should include a CV and a cover letter outlining professional experience and any experience within leadership roles. The Board is particularly interested in meeting with applicants who have experience in LGBTIQ+ community organisations and registered charities with DGR status.

The Board strongly encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, trans, gender diverse and intersex individuals, as well as people with disability and other individuals who reflect the diversity of the LGBTQI community.

For more information about the Board Associates role or to submit your application, please email company.secretary@mardigrasarts.org.au.

Applications close 5.00pm, Friday 12th April, 2019 with appointment and induction to be in May 2019

Note: It is expected that all applicants are familiar with the Constitution of both Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and Mardi Gras Arts and have read the 2018-2021 Strategic Plan.
