Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is in an exciting time of renewal and strategic development and is recruiting for a full-time Office Coordinator to join the team in our Oxford Street offices in Darlinghurst NSW.

The Office Coordinator is a key role in the busy office of Mardi Gras and works across the organisation to coordinate inquiries and administration needs. The Office Coordinator covers receptionist duties, undertakes administration work as assigned, including processing membership applications and providing finance assistance to the Business Manager including MYOB invoice entry. The position reports to the Business and Finance Manager and may from time to time support the CEO with special administration tasks.

SGLMG is the non-for-profit member-based organisation and is one of the oldest, continuously operating LGBTI organisations in Australia. SGLMG was built on the foundations laid by early community activists who fought for LGBTI rights in a time of wide-spread, institutionalised oppression and discrimination.  From these origins, SGLMG has evolved to include a strong focus on celebration while maintaining a commitment to social justice for LGBTI communities. 

Since the first march for freedom in 1978, Mardi Gras has grown into a leading international cultural arts festival with a street Parade that has grown to include 12,500 participants and reach a local, online and broadcast audience of over a 13 million people.

Key Selection Criteria

Proven administration, finance and reception skills relevant to an arts and cultural festival environment

Good knowledge of accounts receivable and accounts payable

Ability to work in a high pressure office environment working across conflicting deadlines

Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office applications, data maintenance, IT Maintenance and MYOB processing

Essential Experience:

Vocational studies in business administration or a related field or appropriate relevant experience in the absence of a qualification.

Office applications (3 years)

Filing and administration (3 years)

Customer service (3 years)

Finance and accounts – MYOB (exposure)

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (exposure)

High level excel and database entry experience

Pay: $70k plus superannuation - SGLMG offers attractive employment conditions, flexible working conditions, and paid leave between Christmas and New Year.
