Travel
There’s no place like Sydney in summertime.
Between the glittering, azure waters of the Pacific and Sydney Harbour stretches a cosmopolitan city brimming with culture and fabulous experiences. Exquisite natural beauty, the world's best urban beaches, superb wining and dining, and fabulous shopping – all of this in one of the most gay-friendly cities in the world!
We invite people from around Australia and the world to join us over February 12th - March 4th 2012 for an unforgettable Sydney Mardi Gras 2012.
Where to stay
Whether you want to indulge in luxury or you just want the basics, there are plenty of options to suit any accommodation budget or length of stay. We recommend the following partner hotels:
- The Star in Darling Harbour is an entertainment precinct that offers a range of accommodation options, as well as fine dining restaurants, bars, casinos and entertainment venues. Read more about The Star here.
- Vibe hotels offer two great hotels with personality, ideally located so that you’ll be in the thick of the Sydney Mardi Gras action – just off the Parade route at Vibe Goulburn Street, and the exclusive east at Vibe Rushcutters Bay. Read more about Vibe Hotels here.
Tour operator packages
For those who want to leave the organisation to someone else, there are a range of tour operators who offer Sydney Mardi Gras travel packages to suit every type of traveller!
For more information, see our Tour Operator Packages page.
Getting here: planes and trains
If you are travelling within Australia, you should check out our partner airline, Virgin Australia. They will take you to Sydney in style – and they support Sydney Mardi Gras 2012.
If you’re travelling from Adelaide, there’s a train trip called ‘Queens’ on the Indian Pacific from Adelaide for Sydney Mardi Gras. It will stop over in Broken Hill for a ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert’ experience at the Palace Hotel. See greatsouthernrail.com.au for more information.
From the USA, we recommend Virgin Australia, flying from major cities on the East and West Coast. Low fares and fantastic service makes them an ideal choice for your trip to Sydney.
