Volunteers
Mardi Gras relies on thousands of volunteers to make our world famous festival and events the success that they are year after year. Volunteering is all about making a difference. Mardi Gras is committed to involving volunteers across its operations from events to business support. When you volunteer with Mardi Gras, you’ll be making not only a difference for the organisation but also the wider community for which we serve.

About Volunteering
If you have volunteered for Mardi Gras before, you’ll notice some changes to the process of applying for your volunteer roles. Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras has aligned it’s volunteer management system to Volunteering Australia’s National Standards to make volunteer recruitment and selection a fair, transparent and equal opportunity for all. Here’s how it works:
-
Event-Day Opportunities : You will need to register for each volunteer role that you are interested in through this website. You can apply for as many roles as we have vacant positions. Of course, you’ll need to have the time, to do them all.
-
Ongoing Opportunities : Ongoing opportunities exist within the organisation in a variety of leadership, professional and skilled roles. You will need to attend an interview or some type of selection process for these roles. You may need to demonstrate your experience and ability to perform the role through qualifications or previous experience.
What's available?
Mardi Gras has such a broad range of volunteer opportunities available throughout the year. Here’s an idea of the different skills and expertise that we are on the look-out for:

We provide any event specific training and the opportunity to be part of a world famous organisation. All we need is your drive, enthusiasm and whatever time you can spare to be part of it!
