What's Available

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Mardi Gras. The skills that we are looking for in our volunteers are so varied because of the variety in what you can do as a volunteer of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. You can be involved in one of our many teams, our office or the workshop.

Event Production Teams

The people that put on our famous events and festival are the Event Production Teams; these include the Parade, Fair Day and parties. In an Event Production Team, you’ll be able to:

  • work with experienced and qualified community event personnel

  • further your event, leadership and project management experience

  • take part in delivering some of the best and fabulous gay and lesbian events the world

  • make a significant contribution to Mardi Gras and our LGBTQI community

Event Production Team roles include operations, logistics, marketing and communications, stage management, community liaison, fundraising, media and public relations, and everything to do with making our events happen. Have a look at our ongoing opportunities page for more information.

Event Day Volunteers

If you’re looking for something a little less involved, our event-day volunteers is a great way to not only help us put these events on, but to have a great time and meet great people also.

You can volunteer for any number of our events including Harbour Party, Parade, Fair Day, Party and many of our festival events throughout the season. Have a look at our event day opportunities page for more information.

Support Teams

Supporting the events in their work are our support teams that provide support services for the organisation. These include the Volunteers Team, Information Technology Team, Membership Team, Medical Team, among others. You could be involved in human resources, systems administration and analysis, membership liaison, human resources, health promotion and policy, recruitment, and many other opportunities. Opportunities in these workings are advertised on our ongoing opportunities page.
