Damien Nguyen

Damien Nguyen

Damien is a staunch queer activist for migrant rights and sex workers' rights. He grew up in Western Sydney and is a first-generation Vietnamese immigrant.

Damien has previously been the 2023 National Queer Officer of the National Union of Students. Here, he organised against the rise of anti-trans bigots, such as TERF Posie Parker (Kelly Jay Keen)'s national "Let Women Speak" tour and the rising presence of Christian Lives Matters on Oxford Street and at local drag shows.

Currently, Damien is active in the campaign demanding freedom for transgender women and sex workers from Villawood immigration detention centre led by the Asian Migrant Sex Worker Advisory Group, Pride in Protest and Scarlet Alliance.

Damien believes in the vision of a community-led Mardi Gras that is free from police violence, transphobic bigots, and stands in support of international struggles.
