Expressions of Interest now open: Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Board member
Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG) now has a vacancy for the Director position left vacant by former director Wei Thai-Haynes and, pursuant to Division III of the Constitution, invites Expressions of Interest from our Members to fill the position until the 2023 Annual General Meeting.
SGLMG is a not-for-profit arts organisation whose vision is to be a global leader in the promotion of diversity, inclusion, equity and social justice through culture, creativity and partnerships. The Board strongly encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, gender and sexuality-diverse individuals, and people with disability.
With the 2023 season upon us, which will coincide with Sydney WorldPride, and considering the ongoing challenges that COVID-19 places on a community organisation and festival like SGLMG, the Board encourages applications from individuals who are able to significantly contribute to Board discussions, planning and committee work beyond the current season.
The Board is particularly seeking Expressions of Interest from individuals with skills and experience in business strategy, planning, cultural events, governance, accounting and finance, legal and human resources.
Expressions of Interest should include a CV (max 3 pages) and a cover letter (max 2 pages) outlining professional and personal experience across the above-mentioned skill sets.
The Board is particularly interested in meeting with applicants who have experience in gender and sexuality-diverse community organisations, major events and registered charities with DGR status.
Applicants should familiarise themselves with the Constitutions of MGA and SGLMG, available here:
- The Constitution of MGA
- The Constitution of SGLMG
- Additional information about being a Board member
- Current SGLMG Strategic Plan
All applicants must be fit and proper persons*.
Expressions of Interest cover letters and CVs must be sent via email to company.secretary@mardigrasarts.org.au or via mail or hand delivery to Company Secretary, Mardi Gras Arts, Level 2/81-83 Oxford St, Darlinghurst NSW 2010, Australia.
Expressions of Interest close 9am AEDT 23 January 2023.
Applicants will be shortlisted and interviewed beginning the first week of February 2023. The successful candidate will be required to attend a Board Induction once appointed.
Regards,
Company Secretary
Mardi Gras Arts Ltd and Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Limited
