The future of Queering in Architecture

The future of Queering in Architecture

Get online with the Gender Equity Transformation team (GET) of the Australian Institute of Architects for ‘Queering Architecture’: a panel discussion with a performative twist, critiquing contemporary design methods and their spatial implications from queer perspectives.

With a phosphorescent line-up we take the plunge, to ask what kinds of cities and spaces we can imagine together if we celebrate our voices, talents, costumes, and rage!

A trip to Limerence

A trip to Limerence

Lie down, tune in and trip out on this Queer Sound Healing voyage of discovery by Mathew Bergan.

Voiced by the legendary Paul Capsis with a sound mix by Stereogomous, A Trip to Limerence mixes meditation, chemical equations and a time bending, queer spirit protestation - I’m not perfect, but I’m perfect for me.

Part manifesto, part love letter to the past and the future, A Trip To Limerence is a turbo charged queer spiritual odyssey into time and space, told through the eyes of Quinton Crisp, England’s stately homo, played by Sydney’s legendary Queer icon - Paul Capsis.

With queer culture on the verge of assimilating into the mores of homo-normativity, Crisp’s avatar Loquacious, revisits Earth via a spirit medium with an important message to share – to practice radical self-acceptance and continue to fight for queer love and Self-expression.

Part new-age spiritual enema, and bent future queer survival guide, A Trip To Limerence journeys deep into the bodies hormonal makeup and targets toxic limiting beliefs such as queer shame and Internalised homophobia. Instead, using the healing superpowers of meditation, mindfulness and music to extract the chemicals of love, self-acceptance and joyfulness.

Written by Mathew Bergan, narrated by the legendary Paul Capsis, music composition by Stereogamous - Paul Mac and Jonny Seymour.

This frighteningly therapeutic sound healing immersion/workshop is a  90-minute horizontal reclining experience. Participants lie down, close their eyes, and listen to a pre-recorded soundscape.

Yoga teacher, Mathew Bergan, one of Sydney’s most cherished homos of the yoga world, is the master of ceremony who facilitates and guides you through each session.

A trip to Limerence, welcomes anyone that is open to taking a mind-blowing trip into non-traditional queer experimental story telling.

Writers & Readers: 'Two Mums and a Dad' with Toby Roberts

Writers & Readers: 'Two Mums and a Dad' with Toby Roberts

In celebration of 2022's Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival, join author Toby Roberts as he discusses his book 'Two Mums and a Dad'.

This delightful coming of age memoir explores the angst of puberty, school, sport and bad 80s fashion. Beneath the humour and quirky characters, reminiscent of Netflix’s 'Sex Education' series and just as awkwardly funny, lies a deeper reminder of the human need to pursue more authentic lives, and the capacity for people to surprise us by accepting love in all its forms.

Light refreshments provided.
