Mad Pride

Mad Pride

Come and celebrate the incredible work of people with lived experiences of mental illness at this year's Mad Pride!

An exciting night of performance featuring everything from Burlesque to Live Music.

Last year's Mad Pride was lauded as one of the best, most important events of the season - don't miss out this year!

Mental Health is still subject to prejudice, discrimination, and shame - and has a massive impact on the LGBTIQA+ community. Help us stop the shame and challenge the prejudice, and most importantly, celebrate what we can do BECAUSE of who we are, not in spite of it!

This event is being held on stolen Gadigal Wangal land - sovereignty never ceded. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal Land.

Venue is accessible and will be Auslan interpreted.

Safe people will be on-hand to assist people.

Please get in touch if you have accesibility needs or questions. No one will be turned away for lack of funds - please email mgmadpride2020@gmail.com so that we can reserve a ticket for you.

Hat Trick presents: Hello Again

Hat Trick presents: Hello Again
{hattrick-mobile}

Seductive, intimate and nostalgic - LaChiusa’s Hello Again explores themes of lust and abandonment, and is a social commentary on how sex transcends time and status.

Set in ten different decades throughout the 20th century, the show follows ten characters who pursue each other in a daisy chain of various social classes. Whether it’s the Whore or the Senator, the roaring 20s or the wild 70s – everyone desires to be loved.

The show’s unique storytelling follows ten archetypes – The Whore, The Soldier, The Nurse, The College Boy, the Young Wife, The Husband, The Young Thing, The Writer, The Actress and The Senator – as they seduce one another, often mistaking lust for love and pleasure for happiness.

Under Jerome Studdy’s direction and choreography, the show transports the audience back in time, making every decade vividly come alive in their own unique dance styles, set and costume designs.

LaChiusa’s imaginative musical is based on the play La Ronde by Arthur Schnitzler, a satire of the Viennese society, which sparked riots after its premiere in 1900, ending in a production ban and obscenity charges.

An equally relevant and timely production in the Fusebox at the Factory Theatre in Marrickville of Hello Again will be performed as the inaugural production of Sydney-based theatre and music company, Hat Trick, from February 20-28 2020.

Words and Music by Michael John LaChiusa
Suggested by the play La Ronde by Arthur Schnitzler

Falsettos

Falsettos
{falsettos-mobile}

Nominated for five 2017 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical, Falsettos is an hilarious and poignant look at a modern family revolving around the life of a gay man Marvin, his wife, his lover, his soon to be bar mitzvah’d son, their psychiatrist, and the lesbians next door.

It is a seamless pairing of March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland, acclaimed Off-Broadway musicals written nearly a decade apart. Originally created under the spectre of the AIDS crisis, this timely musical about middle class family dynamics manages to remain buoyant and satirically perceptive even as it moves towards its heartbreaking conclusion.
