EVENT UPDATE: Due to poor weather conditions Festival First Light will be relocated from Taylor Square North, to the Theatre inside the National Art School. Entrance is at 156 Forbes Street, Darlinghurst, opposite the Rusty Rabbit Cafe. Look out for Volunteers at the entrance to guide you!
As the sun peaks over the horizon on the first day of the 2024 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival, gather in Taylor Square to celebrate our 46th Festival taking place on the lands of the longest running queer culture in the world.
Free to join, the Ceremony will see the first light of our Festival hitting unceded Aboriginal Land. Join us as Aunty Nadeena Dixon Welcomes us to Country and begins our festival, along with a Smoking Ceremony and dancers from the Buuja Buuja-Butterfly Dance Group.
