Due to the significant impact of COVID-19, our festival will look a little different to previous years. The priority is to keep everyone safe, while at the same time still ensuring we provide hope, inspiration and celebration to our amazing community.
Many promoters and community groups are using their inspiring optimism and creativity in reimagining events to comply with COVID-19 regulations. We encourage everyone to celebrate our community in 2021 through arts and culture.
Registration for FESTIVAL EVENTS is now open. We invite you to register your event and be part of our festival celebrations.
In 2021 there will be one event category: FEATURED EVENTS.
10am, Monday 9 November 2020 - Applications Open
5pm, Friday 11 December 2020 - Recommended date to submit all marketing materials, submit your Application and make payment to maximise exposure/marketing for your event
5pm, Wednesday 13 January 2021 - Applications Close
7 days from Approval & Invoice Date - Payment Due Date
We strongly encourage you to submit your Application, including ALL MARKETING MATERIALS and make payment no later than Friday 11 December 2020.
You may submit earlier than this date and add/change anything in your Application by revisiting your portal until 5:00pm, Wednesday 13 January 2021. The link to your portal will be provided once you create your Application.
Please note we will not be printing a Festival Guide in 2021.
Your EVENT NAME should be provided at the start of the application process in the field called Company/Group Name. This will autofill your application form.
If you operate under a company name and ABN you will be asked to provide these details later in the application form.
If you have multiple events, you will need to register one Event at a time. After completing registration of your first event you will receive a confirmation email. In this email is a link to register additional events.
Once your application is accepted, you will be sent further information regarding approval and payment details.

FESTIVAL EVENT REGISTRATION TERMS & CONDITIONS
A. Name of event and type of organisation
In order for your event to be accepted by SGLMG, you must ensure that your event name and title meets the criteria in these Terms & Conditions.
You must not use the words:
a) “Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras” or “Mardi Gras”, or “Official” in your presenting credit or event title, because SGLMG is not co-producing or co-presenting your event;
b) “Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras” or “Mardi Gras” or “Official” or "Official Opening" or "Opening Event" or “Official Closing Party/Event” in the title or URL of your event, as it could be interpreted as a Mardi Gras produced event.
You must not use our name in your presentation title - this includes:
a) Presented by or with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras
b) Co-presented by or with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras
c) Presented by or with Mardi Gras
d) Co-presented by or with Mardi Gras
e) In Association with Mardi Gras
This also includes using the above words in your event names created on social media platforms and ticketing sites.
If your event registration is accepted by SGLMG, you will be entitled to use the official Mardi Gras Season Logo on all your marketing collateral to acknowledge you are an officially registered event. The Mardi Gras Season Logo and Guidelines will be issued to you after your event is accepted. You cannot use our logo prior to the Guidelines being issued.
When completing your application, you must satisfy the condition of being an LGBTQI+ related event (chosen from one of the categories listed in the selection below).
B. Type of Organisation - Definitions
Your event may be of any kind as long as there are LGBTQI+ people in key roles.
Your event must be themed around, support and/or celebrate the rights, achievements, culture and aspirations of the LGBTQI+ community.
