Meta Viewing Event Grants: Sydney WorldPride

Meta Viewing Event Grants are back! The Sydney WorldPride edition means more grants up for grabs to host events across the country to watch either Live and Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert presented by American Express (Fri 24 Feb) or the Mardi Gras Parade (Sat 25 Feb)!

Applications are now open for the Meta Viewing Event Grants: Sydney WorldPride 2023, designed to support the small business and arts and culture sectors by providing funding for hospitality venues to employ LGBTQIA+ artists, DJs and entertainers to perform as part of an Official Live & Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert or Mardi Gras Parade Viewing Event.   

Grants of up to $3,350 for each event will be awarded to venues who demonstrate the ability to host a Official Live & Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert and/or Mardi Gras Parade Viewing Event for the 2023 festival (Broadcast feeds available via ABC Free to air or iView stream).    

GENERAL INFORMATION

SUBMISSIONS OPEN: 9am AEST on Tuesday 15th November 2022 

SUBMISSIONS CLOSE: 11:59.59pm AEST on Sunday, 4th December 2022 

Hospitality venues who demonstrate a history of support for the LGBTQIA+ community such restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs in both regional and metropolitan areas, that will host either or both a; 

  • Official Live & Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert viewing event on Friday 24th February 2023 
  • Official Mardi Gras Parade viewing event on Saturday 25th February 2023 

Grants will be assessed on the following criteria: 

  • Demonstrated ability to elevate exposure for LGBTQIA+ artists and entertainers   
  • Benefit that the viewing event will bring to the local LGBTQIA+ community 
  • Demonstrated interpretation and relevance to the Sydney WorldPride season theme gather, dream, amplify  
  • Demonstrated plan of what the night will hold with proposed run sheet and suggested artists.  

Environmental Factors:

  • Ensuring grants are distributed equitably across LGBTQIA+ brave venues 
  • Ensuring grants are distributed equitably across a range of locations nationally, including regional areas.  
  • Ensuring grants are distributed equitably across small, medium and large venues  

Grants will NOT support:

An entrant will not be eligible if any of the following apply: 

  • Are a government organisation or government official 
  • Seeking a grant for any project other than an Official 2023 viewing event  
  • Official 2023 viewing events that are not supporting or employing LGBTQIA+ artists or performers 

We recommend that you take the time to thoroughly fill out your application.  

Be concise where possible but bear in mind that we need enough detail regarding your ability to host a viewing Event and the creative direction to enable the grants committee to make the most informed decision as possible.  

The grant budget is limited and unfortunately not all applications can be funded. The grants committee have the difficult task of choosing between many high calibre applications. 

Grant submissions can be for the amount of $3,350 for each event, however organisations that have multiple venues can apply for each venue to host a viewing Event in a separate application.  

Please note the grant funding is not intended to cover all of the costs associated with the viewing event. Sydney Mardi Gras, Sydney WorldPride or Meta are not responsible for the provision of additional funding to meet any expenditure for the viewing event in excess of the grant funding contribution. 

ACKNOWLEDMENT:  

All viewing event grant recipients are required to acknowledge Sydney Mardi Gras, Sydney WorldPride and Meta’s support in marketing and promotional activity, including social media, using the tag line: 

  • [Venue Name] is a proud recipient of a Mardi Gras Parade Viewing Event Grant supported by Meta. 
  • [Venue Name] is a proud recipient of a Live & Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert Viewing Event Grant supported by Meta.

BRAND:  

The event must be officially presented as either  

  • Live & Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert Viewing Event 
  • Mardi Gras Parade Viewing Event 

The relevant campaign marks must be included on all promotional collateral, and this will be provided as a part of a toolkit/hub by Sydney Mardi Gras. The toolkit/hub will include logos, digital assets, A3 poster artwork to print, social media tiles, artwork and copy for websites and electronic database mailouts, logos to be printed on tickets, brand guidelines etc.  

No further use of the Meta name or marks is permitted in connection with the event or event promotion except as specifically set forth in the Terms and Conditions. 

PUBLICITY: 

The Venue is not permitted to announce their involvement as a viewing event venue or any details about the event until Sydney Mardi Gras advises that this can occur. A marketing and promotions timeline will be provided by Sydney Mardi Gras. 

The Venue grants Sydney Mardi Gras, Sydney WorldPride along with official Sydney Mardi Gras sponsors, the right to use their name and approved footage, images and biographies of entertainment/artists to advertise the venue’s participation in relation to the viewing event. These assets will be used by Sydney Mardi Gras, Sydney WorldPride and the official sponsors for marketing, promotions and communications relating to the viewing event only.  

Sydney Mardi Gras, Sydney WorldPride and Meta must be provided with accreditation on request to take photographs and video footage of the Viewing Event for use in connection with the promotion of the viewing event only.  

ADDITIONAL:  

  • Grant recipients must use the funding contribution for the organisation and staging of a performance and not for any other purpose.  
  • Grant recipients must use part of the funding contribution to employ and pay for a minimum of two (2) x LGBTQIA+ artists.  
  • Grant recipients are required to provide Sydney Mardi Gras post code data of ticket holders for reporting purposes, where applicable.  
  • Grant recipients are required to complete a post event report/ acquittal which will be supplied by SGLMG. 

Submissions for grants commence at 9am AEST on Tuesday 15th November 2022 and closes at 11:59pm AEST on Sunday, 4th December 2022.  

Successful applications will be notified of their application outcome and a request of invoice so they can have funds deposited into their account once advice of the grant has been confirmed with the recipient. 

Application outcomes will be announced by email or phone during the week commencing Monday, 12th December 2022. Winning entrants may also be promoted on Meta, Sydney Mardi Gras, and Sydney WorldPride social media channels. 

Successful applicants will need to submit a post event report/ acquittal within 14 days of receiving the form. The Acquittal form will include questions around attendees and revenue generated. Acquittal/ report forms will be sent by SGLMG no longer than 30 days post event.
