Qantas Sydney WorldPride Regional Grants

The Qantas Sydney WorldPride Regional Grants program provided an opportunity for LGBTQIA+ individuals who reside in regional Australia to engage with and attend the 2023 Festival and Mardi Gras Parade. The program provided one grant per state/territory to applicants that best demonstrated how they have fostered LGBTQIA+ inclusion in their local communities.
 
Grant recipients received:
Two return economy airfares from the winners closest Qantas operated domestic port to Sydney;
Two tickets to the newly announced Ruby Road Parade Viewing Area and;
Two nights’ accommodation.

SUBMISSIONS OPEN: 9am AEDT, Tuesday 10 January 2023.
SUBMISSIONS CLOSE: 11:59pm AEDT, Sunday 29 January 2023.

LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies who reside in a regional or remote Australian community. Please note that Darwin and Hobart are considered regional and people from these areas are encouraged to apply.

You are not eligible to apply if you:

  • Are employed by a government organisation or are a government official;
  • Have received funding from an airline other than Qantas to participate in Sydney WorldPride 2023;
  • Are seeking a grant for any project other than a Qantas Sydney WorldPride Regional Grant;
  • Reside in a major or capital city (excluding Darwin and Hobart);
  • Are an employee or contractor for Qantas, Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras or Sydney WorldPride.

Grants will be assessed on the following criteria: 

  • The ability of the applicant to demonstrate a meaningful connection to the LGBTQIA+ communities within regional or remote Australia.
  • The extent to which the applicant can identify tangible efforts to foster LGBTQIA+ inclusion within their community.
  • The extent to which the applicant can detail the positive benefits the grant would provide to them.

We recommend that you take the time to thoughtfully complete your application and ensure all required sections are submitted.

A maximum of 8 grants are available, one per Australian state/territory.

Successful applicants will be contacted by email or phone on Wednesday 1 February 2023 and the winner’s names will be published on this webpage.
