Kick off your 2020 Sydney Mardi Gras with Fair Day!
Fair Day is a landmark of the Mardi Gras Festival, where our LGBTQI communities shine brightly together.
Fair Day is an all-day rainbow adventure for the whole family. Enjoy the summer sunshine with a picnic, shop the community stalls for your Festival outfit or join the fun and games in the Sports Village - there's something on offer for everyone, including your precious fur babies who can strut their stuff at the world-famous Doggywood competition.
Our Main Stage has become a festival hotspot in recent years, proudly showcasing up-and-coming and leading queer performers who are redefining the Australian music and arts landscape to ensure LGBTQI voices and stories are heard. 2020 will see performances by emerging and established musicians, plus beloved community DJs taking over the decks at sun-down, turning Victoria Park into a giant dance party.
FAIR DAY STALL SALES HAVE NOW CLOSED
Fair Day is a colourful and eclectic marketplace where Stallholders can connect with the LGBTQI community. It’s a fantastic place for community groups to reach and recruit new members, for talented designers to sell wares, for entrepreneurs to trial a new product, for businesses to cultivate new customers, and for farmers and food producers to sell produce and gastronomic delights.

STALL APPLICATION NOTIFICATION:
Early Bird applications: Applicants (both food and general) who applied in the Early Bird period will be notified by 16 December 2019
Food Stall applications: Applicants will be notified by 20 December 2019
General stall applications: Applicants will be notified by 20 January 2020
Can I hand out leaflets at Fair Day? No, Fair Day is committed to the City of Sydney’s Guidelines for Reducing Single Use Items. Please ensure you read the document here. All materials must be sent through to firstname.lastname@example.org, which we will collate for the City’s approval.
Can my stall hand out promotional material such as pens, fans etc? Potentially. As long as it adheres to the City of Sydney’s Guidelines for Reducing Single Use Items. Please ensure you read the document here. to email@example.com, which we will collate for the City’s approval.
Can I be located in the same position/next to the same stall as last year? You can request this on your application. Due to the number of stalls and the different make up each year, we will try to take it into consideration however it cannot be guaranteed.
HOW MUCH DOES A MARKET STALL COST?
TIPS FOR APPLYING FOR A FAIR DAY STALL:
- Read the Terms and Conditions
- Ask yourself what your stall needs for a successful Fair Day. Things to consider include:
- Do you have a market stall or will you need it supplied?
- Will you need to hire additional equipment?
- Does your stall require electricity?
- Do you have sponsorship or advertising?
- Will your team be able to cover your stall for duration of the day?
- Do you have a preferred location within Fair Day?
- Have you organised Public Liability Insurance and have the details handy?
- How long will it take to set up your stall?
- Complete the online application, including electricity, equipment and any other requirements You will receive a confirmation email upon successful submission.
- Ensure you have the following information ready for your application:
- Main contact details
- ABN (if applicable)
- Business / organisation name
- Stall name
- Public liability insurance details
- A description of your stall
- Payment will be requested once your stall has been approved. Your stall will not be confirmed until payment has been made.

6:30am - Park Opens/Set Up Begins
9:30am - All Vehicles off Park
10:00am - Fair Day Starts
9:00pm - Fair Day Closes
9:30pm - Vehicles re-enter park/Pack Down begins (pending clearance by Event Organisers)
Staggered arrival and set-up times minimise congestion on the site:
6:30am - 7:15am
7:15am - 8:00am
8:00am - 8:45am
Please advise if you have a preferred arrival time, otherwise we are happy to allocate you a time. If your preferred time is unavailable, we’ll aim to allocate a time as close as possible to it and depending on the area your stall is located in.
GENERAL STALLS AND STRUCTURES
Standard Market Stall configuration is as per the following diagram:
If you wish to use your own tent/stall, you must ensure it is no wider than 3m x 3m. Stallholders must also have current engineering certificates available on request. SGLMG Production will conduct random inspections of stalls to ensure compliance with this important request. No holes or pegs are permitted on the park surface and all structures must be self-standing and suitably weighted.
All Food Stallholders must comply with the requirements of the City of Sydney for operating a food stall. City of Sydney Council officers will be present to inspect food stalls on Fair Day. The City of Sydney requires all Food Stallholders to store food in a cool room if stalls are operating for more than three hours. Share cool rooms will be available for hire. The selection of food stalls will be made as soon as possible, and successful applicants will be notified.
Applications must include a full list of the items to be sold from the Food Stall. Items not appearing on the list may not be sold. Items may not be given away or provided free of charge from Food Stalls. Should any changes be required to the list in your application, SGLMG will contact you. Please ensure you have read the Terms and Conditions outlining prohibited items.

Electricity (first outlet) - $195
Electricity (per additional outlet) - $50
Vehicle Tracking Rental (2 boards) - $135
Flooring Rental (3mtr x 3mtr) - $135
Chair (each) - $15
Food – shared cool room - $180
Food – Prep Market Stall (2.4mtr x 2.4mtr) - $135
Food – Service Market Stall (2.4mtr x 2.4mtr) - $135
Food – Hand Wash Station - $125
As there are only a limited number of powered sites available, stalls requiring power will be grouped together. It is your responsibility to ensure that all electrical appliances, cables and leads on site are appropriately tagged by a qualified electrician in advance. SGLMG Production will conduct random inspections of stalls to ensure compliance with this important request. Equipment Hiring Pricing is inclusive of GST; no Early Bird Discount applies.

There is no parking available onsite. Vehicles must be removed from the park by the time specified by SGLMG and may not return to the park until permitted.
CORPORATE STALLS + SPONSORSHIP OR ADVERTISING
Partnerships at Mardi Gras showcase the wonderful contribution that businesses make to show support to the LGBTQI community. SGLMG relies on the support of our generous corporate partners and it is important that we identify as early as possible any potential issues or conflicts between our sponsors and our Stallholders.
If you are a commercial entity, please provide details of your business. If you have any sponsorship or advertising arrangements, please indicate this so that we can work with you to resolve any issues well in advance.
Stallholders should note that SGLMG's arrangements with its partners will take precedence over individual Stallholders’ product or service displays at Fair Day, and we will request modification to the appearance of your stall or the range of products you are selling on the day if they conflict with our contractual arrangement. Where Stallholders commercial operations pose a direct conflict with SGLMG partnership arrangements, you may be advised by SGLMG that your participation in Fair Day may not be possible.

Any breach of the Terms and Conditions may result in cancellation of your application, or closure of your Stall, at any time, without refund.
