Queer Screen’s 31st Mardi Gras Film Festival

Queer Screen’s 31st Mardi Gras Film Festival is ready to start a conversation. Screening in Sydney from February 15 to 29, before streaming on-demand nationwide from March 1 to 11, tickets are on sale now at queerscreen.org.au.

With 161 films and events across 77 unique programs at Event Cinemas (George Street and Hurstville), Ritz Cinemas Randwick, Dendy Cinemas Newtown, the Bearded Tit, Hayden Orpheum Cremorne, and Westpac OpenAir Cinema—plus new venues the Sydney Opera House and the State Library of NSW—there’s truly something for everyone.

MGFF24 opens with the Sydney première of British neo-noir thriller Femme, starring Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and George MacKay, and closes with Queer Lion winner Housekeeping for Beginners by Australian filmmaker Goran Stolevski. World premières include moving documentary A Portrait of Love, new Aussie feature In the Room Where He Waits, and Argentinian dramedy Blue Lights, personally introduced by director Lucas Santa Ana.

For the first time, the Festival takes centre stage at the Sydney Opera House with Music from Queer Film, performed by the Sydney Cello Quartet, followed by the Australian première of Days Of Happiness. Other Festival highlights include a fun sing-along screening of The Sound of Music and a return to stunning harbourside Westpac OpenAir Cinema with All Of Us Strangers starring Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott.

Tickets and passes are on sale now. Queer Screen memberships are also available and offer discounted tickets and priority entry. Visit queerscreen.org.au, use the Festival app, or call (02) 9280 1533 to book.
