Now in its fifth year, Oxford Street’s annual Oxtravaganza is back, bigger and bolder than ever, with celebrations and activations over the full two weeks of the Mardi Gras program.

Oxtravaganza is when “Darlo Does Mardi Gras” as only Darlinghurst can - where else can you expect bands, burlesque and (naked) barbers? This celebration of Oxford Street and the Pink Mile will see 100+ local businesses coming together to offer special retail promotions, live music, viewing parties, exclusive performances, outdoor entertainment, art walks, plus food and drink deals. And this year, the parade may have relocated but Oxford Street plans to party on, with local businesses ramping up the glitter vibe.

On Saturday 27th Feb join us for an Oxtravaganza Shop Till You Drop event when local retailers will be offering discounts and deals. Plan your Mardi Gras outfit - Specialist shops sell everything from sequins and feathers, to leather chaps, short shorts, unique vintage bargains, sky-high heels, and glamorous drag outfits. Be entertained by roving street performances and drop in for a glass of bubbles at your favourite Oxford St retailer

The Oxtravaganza Saturday is now a Mardi Gras must-do event and if past years are anything to go by you can expect a lively and fun experience as you move along Oxford St (and surrounds) drinking champagne, being entertained by performers and buskers, pretty swimwear models, drag queens, with DJs and live music in the stores. Why not let the Naked Barber give you a close shave or partake in the vibrator races. Be on alert for some flash mob entertainment too!

If the hustle and bustle on Oxford St is too much, try Meet Me On Stanley. It used to be the Little Italy of Darlo but now Stanley Street is like a United Nations of food with a taste to suit every palate and a price to suit every budget. Local restaurants and bars will be open late so head to Stanley St for some pre or after parade sustenance and look out for the special Oxtravaganza meal deals.

Walk along Oxford St and check out the online Art Walk … “Darlings and Dissidents” will take you on a journey and show you some history of Oxford St and Darlinghurst, taking in key landmarks and colourful characters. This precinct has long been a stomping ground for oddballs, queers, bohemians, and artists, whose influences delightfully combined to form a unique cultural hub.  Oxford Street is an unconventional and non-judgmental space where anything goes and everyone is welcome.
